Elpida Memory Ships 80nm 2Gbit DDR2 SDRAM Samples.

) - Elpida Memory Elpida Memory, Inc. (エルピーダメモリ株式会社   announced on December 19 that it has begun shipping samples of the 2Gbit DDR2 SDRAM that is designed using an 80nm process.

Among the first 80nm chips that have been shipped for custom evaluation in the world, the Elpida samples are available in three different data rate speeds: 533, 667, and 800Mbps. They are configured 64Mwords x 4bits x 8 banks or 32Mwords x 8bits x 8 banks.

 packages for easy mounting on dual in-line memory modules (DIMMs), the 2Gbit SDRAM (Synchronous DRAM) A type of dynamic RAM (DRAM) memory chip that has been widely used since the late 1990s. SDRAM chips eliminated wait states by dividing the chip into two cell blocks and interleaving data between them.  chips will go into commercial production once Elpida sees a market demand.
