ELMIRA - Alicia Cook and Andrea Sconce combined to pitch a one-hitter with 11 strikeouts as Elmira clinched sole ownership of the Sky-Em League prep softball softball, variant of baseball played with a larger ball on a smaller field. Invented (1888) in Chicago as an indoor game, it was at various times called indoor baseball, mush ball, playground ball, kitten ball, and, because it was also played by women, ladies'  title with a 7-0 victory over Cottage Grove Cottage Grove, village (1990 pop. 22,935), Washington co., SE Minn., near the St. Croix River; inc. 1965. There is farming (cattle, sheep, corn, and soybeans) and manufacturing (chemicals and machinery).  on Tuesday.

Janet Freerks pitched a three-hitter with nine strikeouts for the Billies.

Creswell 11, Siuslaw 1

CRESWELL - Kim Winslow was 3-for-4 with two doubles and three RBIs, and Carrie Winslow was 3-for-4 with four RBIs to pace the Bulldogs.

Kaylea Colley had two doubles and an RBI, and Haleigh Harrold was 2-for-3 as Creswell had 14 hits in five innings INNINGS, estates. Lands gained from the sea by draining. Cunn. L. Dict. h. t.; Law of Sewers, 31. .

SUTHERLIN - Kyra Weaver hit a home run, triple and knocked in two runs, and Chelsea Koch pitched a two-hitter with seven strikeouts in five innings as the Bulldogs (16-5, 9-1 Far West) moved into a first-place tie with idle Glide See Glide Effortless and Glide PhotoShare. .

Makayla Weaver and Jenna Gillman each had two hits.

BROOKINGS - Codi Howard was 4-for-5 with two RBIs and Kelly Garvin was 3-for-5 with three RBIs to pace the Bruins, who took sole possession of third place.

Maryssa Hargrove was 3-for-5 with two RBIs in Brookings' 16-hit attack, and Chelsie Taresh had six strikeouts in six innings.

Val-Co League

Newport 29, Toledo 4

TOLEDO - Danielle Schiewe was 4-for-5 with three RBIs and Savannah Savannah, city, United States

 Berg was 2-for-2 with five RBIs to lead the Cubs.

Tara Angelone and Malia Vidal both knocked in four runs, and Katrina Hogan and Maggie Collson each knocked in three.

Harrisburg 14, Mohawk 1

MARCOLA - Erin Brown pitched a two-hitter with 11 strikeouts as the Eagles pulled to within a half-game of second place.

Samanthe Summerfield and Kelly Dick each had three hits and four RBIs for Harrisburg.
