J.H. Abou-Kassem, PhD is a professor in the Department of Chemical and Petroleum Engineering at the United Arab Emirates University, Al-Ain, UAE. Prior to joining UAE University in 1994, he was an associate professor at Pennsylvania State University. He also worked for a number of petrochemical companies including Aramco. He has published many papers on reservoir simulation and numerical modeling. One of his most recent works is the publication of SPE's first book on reservoir modeling.

S.M. Farouq Ali, PhD is Honorary Professor of oil and gas engineering at the University of Calgary. He also serves as a petroleum consultant. He was previously a professor at Pennsylvania State University, and he has more than 500 papers and numerous awards to his credit.

M.R. Islam, PhD is a professor in the Department of Petroleum Engineering at Dalhousie University. From February 2000 through January 2005, he held the only Petroleum Engineering Research Chair in Canada. Prior to this, Dr. Islam was the first NRCan (Natural Resources Canada) professor of engineering at the University of Regina where he was the program leader of petroleum engineering. He has many awards and distinguished papers to his credit.
