Elf Atochem Opens Polymer Technology Center.Philadelphia-based Elf Atochem North America, Inc. has built a new Polymer Technology Center in King of Prussia King of Prussia, industrialized suburban area (1990 pop. 18,406), Montgomery co., SE Pa. It has glass and steel fabricating, food processing, printing and publishing, and varied manufacturing (textiles, liquified petroleum gas, water-treatment and electrical , Pa. The $15-million center has a staff of 70 and serves as the main R&D and technical-service center for Elf Atochem's Performance Polymers business unit. That unit has three business segments: * Technical Polymers includes Kynar PVDF PVDF polyvinylidene difluoride , Rilsan nylon 11 and 12, Pebax polyether pol·y·e·ther n. A polymer in which the repeating unit contains two carbon atoms linked by an oxygen atom. amide TPEs, Platamid copolyamide, and Platherm copolyester. * Atoglas Div. produces Plexiglas acrylic resins and sheet, as well as Tuffak polycarbonate sheet. * Functional Polymers supplies SMA (1) See SMA connector.
