LOS ANGELES--(BW SportsWire)--Sept. 9, 1999--

Following in the footsteps of the inaugural event on the beautiful islands and inlet inlet /in·let/ (-let) a means or route of entrance.

Teams consist of seven participants -- 4 competitors and 3 logistical support crew. At least two of the team members must be women. Teams will combine their pioneering spirit, quest for Verb 1. quest for - go in search of or hunt for; "pursue a hobby"

 discovery and taste for adventure while experiencing the cultural challenges required to complete the 350+ mile course.

 -- founding father of the sport of expedition competitions -- the Elf Authentic Adventure is an event designed by the same team of explorers that inspired the Raid Gauloises, the Eco-Challenge and America's newest competition, The Beast.

Disciplines will include dug-out canoes, sail boats, sea kayaks A Sea kayak or touring kayak is a kayak developed for the sport of paddling on open waters of lakes, bays, and the ocean. Sea kayaks are seaworthy small boats with a covered deck and the ability to incorporate a spraydeck. , rafts, mountain bikes, trekking, caving and horses. The competition is also divided into three categories -- Extreme, Adventure and Discovery -- which have slightly different courses reflecting competitors' skills and fitness levels.
