Elevator Companies and Union Reach Tentative Agreement on New Five-Year Labor Contract.TEANECK, N.J. -- The National Elevator Bargaining Association (NEBA NEBA New England Booksellers Association NEBA Net Environmental Benefit Analysis NEBA New England Bankcard Association NEBA NASA Employees Benefit Association NEBA Nepal Bar Association NEBA North East Bass Association (fishing) ) has reached a tentative agreement with the International Union of Elevator Constructors The International Union of Elevator Constructors (IUEC) is a trade union in the United States and Canada. It has over 27,000 members worldwide. The IUEC membership consists of individuals who construct, modernize, repair, and service elevators, escalators, moving walks, and other (IUEC IUEC International Union of Elevator Constructors ) on a new five-year labor contract, which covers more than 13,000 workers in the United States. NEBA represents three major elevator manufacturing and service companies - KONE KONE Kites Over New England Inc., Otis Elevator Company The Otis Elevator Company is the world's largest manufacturer of vertical transportation systems, principally elevators and escalators. Founded in Yonkers, New York, USA in 1853 by Elisha Otis, the company pioneered the development of the safety elevator, which used a special and Schindler Elevator Corporation. NEBA represents its member companies in collective bargaining with the IUEC. The three companies install, repair and maintain elevators, escalators, moving walkways and related equipment in the United States. The tentative agreement is effective July 9, 2007 and is subject to ratification by IUEC delegates. "We are pleased that NEBA has successfully concluded contract negotiations with the IUEC," said E. James Walker, Jr., executive director of NEBA. The IUEC Labor Committee is recommending the agreement for ratification by delegates at a meeting expected to be held in March. |
