Elephant calf rescued in Jharkhand.

"Personnel of our forest department were informed by the villagers about the elephant calf which was spotted in the Ghatsila region of the forest. We are now taking care of it. It is just 10 to 15 day old calf," said A T Mishra, Divisional Forest Officer, Dhalbhum Forest Range, Jharkhand.

The elephant calf, which has injuries at many spots on its body, is being fed with milk and tender grass.

"The calf is weak. It must have suffered injuries when its herd members tried to save it for a while. Hopefully, it will get ured at the earliest," said Dr. Manik Palit, Veterinarian veterinarian /vet·er·i·nar·i·an/ (vet?er-i-nar´e-an) a person trained and authorized to practice veterinary medicine and surgery; a doctor of veterinary medicine.
