, a full-service bridal shop in Central Massachusetts, today announced it will remain open throughout the weekend in recognition of the state's second sales tax-free weekend. The move comes as the bridal shop is already offering 10 percent off select dresses and other accessories through the end of August.

"Massachusetts' tax-free weekend not only allows consumers to enjoy significant savings, but gives a much needed boost to shops and stores statewide," said Deborah A. Baron, owner and operator of Elena Mae's Bridal Boutique in Leominster, Mass. "We're looking forward to a very busy weekend."

Baron noted that the state's decision to suspend the 5 percent sales tax sales tax, levy on the sale of goods or services, generally calculated as a percentage of the selling price, and sometimes called a purchase tax. It is usually collected in the form of an extra charge by the retailer, who remits the tax to the government.  Aug. 12 and 13 is welcome news, particularly on the heels of the Federal Reserve Board's decision on Aug. 8 to pause interest-rate hikes for the first time in two years.
