Electronic Signature Solution Automates Townsville City Council Workflow.

Pleasant Hill, CA. -- Algorithmic Research (ARX), a provider of electronic signatures and data security solutions, has installed its CoSign digital signature appliance at the Townsville City Council (TCC) in Queensland, Australia.

CoSign provides TCC with an integrated solution that improves workflow, enhances document security and enables paperless business processes at the Council and with third party suppliers.

Using electronic signatures, TCC has revamped its entire approval process. CoSign's technology allows users to replace handwritten signatures, sealing documents written in Word, Excel and PDF, with legally-binding electronic signatures.

"Prior to the installation, Townsville management and staff were caught up in the traditional approval process," says Jim Cornall, Manager, Corporate Information & Support. "Even though documents were drafted in Word they still had to be printed for signing purposes. Using CoSign we can electronically sign documents within the applications we use daily."

According to Cornall, the Council saves on costs and time as its traditional paper-based processes fall by the wayside. Their intention is to use the desktop for all processes, distribution and delivery of correspondence and data.

Elaborating on the decision to install CoSign, Cornall says TCC was attracted to its simplicity and ease-of-use. "CoSign was up and running the day it was connected to our network. This meant staff could start signing documents right away."
