Electronic Sensor Technology Develops New Technique for Screening Cargo Containers for Cocaine, Marijuana and Currency.

NEWBURY PARK, Calif. -- Electronic Sensor Technology, Inc. (OTCBB:ESNR) or EST, announced today that it has developed a new technique for screening cargo containers. To date, the most reliable way to search for illicit materials in cargo containers is via manual inspection. Partly because of the time-consuming nature of this procedure, very few containers (less than 4% of the 6 million containers/year) are even examined.

Dr. Edward S. Staples, the Chief Scientist of Electronic Sensor Technology, will be presenting a paper at the 7th World Congress of Chemical Engineers (WCCE 2005) in Glasgow, Scotland on July 14, 2005 describing the zNose(R) technology and its role in screening cargo containers. This technology enhances the ability of shippers to meet security requirements under Customs Trade Partnership Against Terrorism (C-TPAT) and Container Security Initiatives (CSI) programs. The zNose(R) is the first true electronic nose to mimic the human olfactory response with olfactory images while at the same time providing a quantitative chemical analysis tool for chemical profiling of container odors.
