Electronic Recyclers Receives First Check in Excess of $1 Million from State of California.

FRESNO, Calif. -- John S. Shegerian, President and CEO (1) (Chief Executive Officer) The highest individual in command of an organization. Typically the president of the company, the CEO reports to the Chairman of the Board.  of Electronic Recyclers, California's largest recycler of electronic waste, announced today that his company this month has received its first check in excess of $1 million from the State of California's Integrated Waste Management Board for the recycling of electronic waste. Receipt of the check marks the largest payment from the state to a single recycling organization to date.

The check, made out by the State of California to Electronic Recyclers for the amount of $1,073,287.20, reimburses Electronic recyclers for covered electronic waste collected in June of this year and is an illustration of the success of the State's SB20 program, launched last year to create an infrastructure to subsidize sub·si·dize

the proper and environmentally sound recycling of electronic waste such as televisions and computer monitors. Thanks to California's SB20 and organizations such as Electronic Recyclers, which lead the burgeoning electronic recycling industry, projections show that more than 140 million pounds of electronic waste will be properly recycled this year.

"As a longtime member of the California business community I am particularly proud of this accomplishment and of my home state," said Shegerian. "California is the first state to make this kind of legislation work - in terms of business, environmental protection, and convenience for the consumer. We look forward to many years of working with the California Integrated Waste Management Board, who have helped to make this process possible, and hope to follow suit with other states around the country. The recycling of electronic waste is a new and powerful American industry and places California at the epicenter ep·i·cen·ter
