), a leading global interactive entertainment software company, announces the shipment of Need For Speed II - Special Edition, the realistic racing simulation that follows and builds on the successful Need For Speed II personal computer title released earlier this year.

Need For Speed II - Special Edition sports several fresh gameplay features including four new exotic supercars, another international track, an additional game mode for improved driving control and 3Dfx support.

The product is the first in the Need For Speed line to utilize the 3Dfx Voodoo chipset technology, which significantly heightens the game's level of realism and overall racing experience through rich, crisp graphics and smooth terrain textures. For example, players who encounter rainy weather will see random-sized raindrops hit and dissolve on their windshield, and as in real life, the faster the car goes the faster the raindrops disappear.

In addition, the game's fast frame rate (approximately 30 frames per second) allows for an adrenaline pumping sensation of speed, as well as smooth animation and video playback. Racing enthusiasts will find that the game delivers a realistic racing experience similar to that of actually driving the world's most rare and expensive cars.

Race locations span the globe and vary in difficulty levels, including the new international track on the coast of Mexico. With the addition of Mexico, players can test their driving skills on a total of seven exotic tracks located in Greece, Nepal, Norway, Australia, Northern Europe and Canada. For those who crave additional challenges, races can be conducted in a variety of modes including the new mirror mode and in reverse on all tracks.

Need For Speed II - Special Edition offers the same popular features found in Need For Speed II, an immersive 3-D world, multiplayer capabilities and exotic supercars that are based on manufacturers' exact specifications. Each car is representative of its real-life counterpart in appearance, sound and performance. Players can get behind the seat of four new licensed racing vehicles in addition to the game's stable of eight exotic cars, bringing the total to 12. Experience new racing challenges by pitting these supercars against the original eight: -0- - New Ferrari 355 F1 - New Ford Mach III - New Italdesign Nazca C2 - New Ford Indigo The Ford Indigo is a concept car developed by Ford for the 1996 auto show circuit.
