:EGLS EGLS Eastside German Language School (Issaquah, WA) ), a leading supplier of automated wafer probing systems for semiconductor manufacturing, Wednesday announced that Information Storage Devices (ISD See IDD. ) has placed a multiple-system order for Electroglas' Model 2001X wafer probers.

The systems, which will be used to probe ISD's multi-level memory storage devices, will begin shipping to ISD's new San Jose, Calif., facility later this month. The dollar value of the order was not disclosed.

Electroglas Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Neil Bonke attributed the ISD order win to Electroglas' strong combination of mature, production-proven equipment and excellent technical support, adding, "We are extremely pleased to have received such a significant order from ISD -- a major new customer on a dynamic growth path."

"ISD's growth over the past year required a move to a new facility. As a result, we needed to add wafer sort capacity," stated Al Woodhull, vice president of manufacturing at ISD.

"Keeping with our commitment to automation, ISD turned to Electroglas, a market leader in the wafer probing systems business, because they previously provided us with excellent products and support. We are pleased to continue a strong partnership with Electroglas."

Electroglas' Model 2001X automatic wafer prober has a 10-year track record of providing reliable probing solutions. The system is equipped with automatic wafer handling and a vision processing unit. The material handling module provides cassette-to-cassette sequential handling of one cassette of wafers (25 wafers).

The handler will accommodate wafer sizes between three and six inches in diameter. The vision processing unit provides automatic wafer alignment, optical character recognition optical character recognition (OCR), method for the machine-reading of typeset, typed, and, in some cases, hand-printed letters, numbers, and symbols using optical sensing and a computer.  and in-process inspection, so the 2001X requires minimal user interaction.
