Electroglas appoints new product manager for 300mm products; Brian Lange to drive development of next-generation probers.SANTA CLARA Santa Clara, city, Cuba Santa Clara (sän`tä klä`rä), city (1994 est. pop. 217,000), capital of Villa Clara prov., central Cuba. , Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 16, 1996--Electroglas Inc. (NASDAQ NASDAQ in full National Association of Securities Dealers Automated Quotations U.S. market for over-the-counter securities. Established in 1971 by the National Association of Securities Dealers (NASD), NASDAQ is an automated quotation system that reports on :EGLS EGLS Eastside German Language School (Issaquah, WA) ), a market-leading supplier of automatic wafer probing systems to the global semiconductor industry, today named Brian Lange to the newly created position of product manager for 300mm products. Reporting to David Durham, director of prober product marketing, Lange is charged with driving the development of Electroglas' next-generation 300mm prober products. According to Electroglas, the semiconductor industry's transition to 300mm (12-inch) wafers from 200mm (8-inch) wafers -- a move intended to cost effectively address burgeoning demand for semiconductor devices -- will be well under way by the end of the decade. While these larger wafers offer more than double the surface area of 200mm wafers, moving to 300mm production requires all enabling technology to be in place several years before the transition can occur. This need has driven a number of recent developments at Electroglas. Lange's new position is the most recent, following the company's Cooperative Research and Development Agreement “CRADA” redirects here. For other uses, see CRADA (disambiguation). A Cooperative Research and Development Agreement (CRADA) is an agreement between a government agency and a private company to work together. (CRADA CRADA Cooperative Research And Development Agreement ) with Sandia Corp. and the opening of its Advanced Development Laboratory, which is integral to the CRADA as both are focused on the accelerated development of probing technology for 300mm wafers. Electroglas created Lange's new position to address the technology and the provisions in the CRADA. Durham noted that developing next-generation probing capabilities for 300mm wafers requires strong problem-solving skills -- one of Lange's proven strengths. "This project demands a person who has successful experience with sort process management. Brian's experience ramping sort processes to production level for Intel will be invaluable to ensuring Electroglas' 300mm prober products lead us and our customers into the next century," stated Durham. Lange comes to Electroglas with 12 years' experience as California Technology/Manufacturing (CTM CTM Continuum (gaming) CTM Community Trade Mark (Europe) CTM Cisco Transport Manager CTM Confederacion de Trabajadores de Mexico (Spanish: Confederation of Mexican Workers) ) test engineering manager at Intel Corp. (Santa Clara). In this position he drove the process for new logic devices, including first silicon capabilities, production ramp and transfer to worldwide manufacturing sites. Before that, he was a test development engineer for Synertek (Santa Cruz, Calif.) where he developed the laser redundancy capability on Teradyne's first laser repair system. Lange holds a computer sciences degree from DeVry Institute of Technology (Phoenix).
