:EGLS EGLS Eastside German Language School (Issaquah, WA) ), a market-leading supplier of automatic wafer probing and information management products to the global semiconductor industry, and pioneer of fully integrated sort floor networked communications, today announced it has received a multimillion-dollar follow-on order from Dominion Semiconductor for several flagship Horizon 4090 wafer prober systems.

Dominion will use the 4090s in the production of current- and future-generation dynamic random access memory Dynamic random access memory (DRAM) is a type of random access memory that stores each bit of data in a separate capacitor within an integrated circuit. Since real capacitors leak charge, the information eventually fades unless the capacitor charge is refreshed periodically.  (DRAM) devices at its fab located in Manassas, Va. Installation of the Horizon 4090s will begin in the third quarter 1997.

Based on positive performance evaluations of currently installed 4090s, the selection by Dominion follows on the heels of a major order it placed with Electroglas (announced February 19, 1997). According to Electroglas, the Horizon 4090 was evaluated for its ability to support Dominion's technology roadmap. Commenting on the significance of the order, Conor O'Mahony, Electroglas' vice president of global customer operations, said, "This order clearly indicates Electroglas' success in continuing to deliver the probing solutions required to support the industry's migration toward next-generation device development and production." O'Mahony added, "Dominion's selection validates the competitive technical strengths of the 4090."

The Horizon 4090s will be configured with production-oriented options, including the Bottom Probe Card Changer (BPCC BPCC Bossier Parish Community College (Bossier City, LA, USA)
BPCC Best Practices in Corporate Communications (Washington, DC)
BPCC Blockwise Partitioned Convolutional Code

HTM Hand To Mouth
HTM harmful-to-minors
HTM Held-to-Maturity

The Horizon 4090, the first and only wafer prober compliant with both GEM and Ethernet communication standards, supports customer-specific network requirements in any manufacturing environment. In addition, Electroglas supports GEM with one of the most advanced families of information management software products, including SORTnet, which enables real-time collection and distribution of data over the prober network, while testing is in progress.

Designed to meet the performance demands of 0.25-micron design-rule processing, the 4090 offers superior reliability and the industry's highest probing throughput rates. This, combined with its stepping accuracy of +4 micron provides the technical capabilities required for the production of advanced products.

About Electroglas: Founded in 1960, Electroglas, Inc. is a world-leading supplier of the automated wafer-probing products and information management products that semiconductor manufacturers rely on to sort and classify integrated circuits. The company's products position semiconductor devices that are still in wafer form under contact probes to facilitate accurate, rapid, reliable testing, and manage information collected during the testing process. In May 1997, Electroglas finalized its acquisition of Knights Technology. Knights Technology is now a wholly owned subsidiary Wholly Owned Subsidiary
