Electroglas Opens Global Training Facility; New facility to enhance global customer support.

SANTA CLARA, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 8, 1996--Electroglas, Inc. (Nasdaq:EGLS), a market-leading supplier of automatic wafer probing systems to the global semiconductor industry, today announced that it has opened a Global Training Facility near its corporate campus in Santa Clara, and adjacent to its Advanced Development Laboratory established earlier this year.

The new 8,500-square-foot facility will house Electroglas products and provide comprehensive, hands-on training facilities for customers and Electroglas employees worldwide.

Electroglas cited the company's growth over the past three years as a major factor driving the need for a dedicated training facility. Curt Wozniak, chief executive officer for Electroglas, noted, "Continuing to develop and invest in programs that will help our customers be successful is essential to maintaining our position as a leading equipment supplier. It is also critical to our goal of managing our business for growth, as we put in place the pieces that will help ensure we are prepared for future business expansion."

The new facility will feature four state-of-the-art customer training classrooms equipped with prober equipment and applications, liquid crystal display (LCD) panels for lectures and presentations, and laptop equipment for EGCommander software training. Each classroom is dedicated to specific probers: 2000 Series; Horizon 4060X(R) and 4080X(R); Horizon 4085X(R); and the new Horizon 4090. Customers, as well as employees, will also have access to additional training resources located in a research and library center within the facility.

Primarily focusing on extensive, hands-on training for customers, the Global Training Facility will also provide the in-depth probing analysis, product demonstrations and pre-release product overviews essential for Electroglas employees to deliver on-demand, critical support to customers. Additionally, by allowing customers to utilize training classes and leverage technical expertise from Electroglas personnel, the new facility will help Electroglas deliver the customer support necessary for semiconductor manufacturers to effectively manage changing prober requirements.

The Global Training Facility represents the next major step in Electroglas' recently expanded Global Support Operations. This business unit is designed to strengthen customer support by centralizing common service functions, including training customers and Electroglas personnel.
