Electroglas Introduces EG Net, Web-Based Networking and Data Management Solution for Volume Production Test Floors.

Electroglas, Inc. (Nasdaq:EGLS), a leading supplier of wafer probers and prober-based test handling solutions for the semiconductor industry, today announced that is has begun delivery of EG Net, a web-based networking and product file and wafer map management system for Electroglas wafer probers. EG Net helps users achieve more efficient and cost-effective management of test processes by simplifying and automating the management of multiple product files and wafer maps found on volume production test floors. A fundamental building block in test floor management (TFM), EG Net provides essential connectivity and basic data management functions that lay the foundation for the more advanced monitoring, analysis and control functions provided by other Electroglas TFM products.

Wolfgang Peisser, Director, Backend, of austriamicrosystems, the company has not only been provided faster and more convenient insight into test operations with EG Net, they have also been able to automate the time-consuming process of moving and managing wafer maps, and converting map formats. Additionally, EG Net's performance and flexibility allowed austriamicrosystems to integrate a key internal solution into the map management process.

In addition to high performance automated map management, EG Net speeds the identification of yield shortfalls and reduces re-probe rates by collecting and storing wafer maps from multiple passes for all systems into a common map repository for viewing and analysis. As well, EG Net ensures consistency and accuracy in the test process by allowing users to save "golden template" product files to a secure, shared location that can be accessed by multiple users and applied to multiple Electroglas probers or test handlers. A failsafe mechanism for tracking product file changes ensures revision control.

Other EG Net features include lot summary yield reports, lot analysis by device/product including P charts and Pareto charts, and Network Connection Monitor that displays a color-coded status for EG Net system performance and provides user-configurable alert triggers when problems occur.

EG Net replaces Electroglas' previous generation map and product file management software, SORTview. Electroglas offers migration paths for SORTview customers to easily move to EG Net or its other test floor management software solutions. Customers upgrading to EG Net will experience greatly improved performance and reliability, and enhanced operation with the web-based interface and product file revision control.
