Electroglas, Inc. (Nasdaq:EGLS), a leading supplier of wafer probers and prober-based test handling solutions for the semiconductor industry, today announced it has received a multi-million dollar order from Micron Technology, Inc. (NYSE:MU), one of the world's leading providers of advanced semiconductor solutions used in today's leading-edge computing, consumer, networking and communications products. The order includes the Electroglas Pathfinder test handling system and SORTmanager web-based process analysis and control software. This is the first order by Micron for both products.

Pathfinder is a fully automated wafer, die and package test-handling system that allows the testing of diced wafers, ultra-thin wafers and packages mounted on standard film frames, which reduces the potential for post-packaging failures due to damage incurred while dicing or thinning. Further, Pathfinder's unique, non-linear alignment capabilities correct for die shift on the film that would otherwise cause test failures and bond pad damage, thereby improving test yield.

SORTmanager is a web-based process analysis and control solution that provides a secure web environment for real-time access to multiple data sources, including test floor equipment, UNIX/legacy databases, manufacturing execution systems (MES) and enterprise resource planning (ERP) applications from test floors throughout the world. Device yield, binning, prober performance and throughput data can be automatically collected, analyzed and corrective action taken. Results are delivered via dynamic, interactive web pages that match presentation and interaction expectations with the audience, allowing users to view reports and/or perform additional analysis. SORTmanager also provides remote control and e-diagnostics for probers, allowing users to solve problems remotely, reducing equipment downtime and travel costs.
