Election 2000 aftermath: who was able to vote? (News).


The good news? The Harris Poll reports that 41% of people with disabilities voted in the last presidential election, a big increase from the 30% who voted in 1996.

The bad news? Voting problems in Florida got the lion's share of media attention--but inaccessible polling places, unwieldy voting systems Noun 1. voting system - a legal system for making democratic choices

, unreadable or confusing ballots, and glitches in voter registries made it impossible for many to successfully cast their votes.

The National Organization for Disabilities (NOD) believes all polling places should conform to Verb 1. conform to - satisfy a condition or restriction; "Does this paper meet the requirements for the degree?"
