A useful reference chart, rating each of 16 traditional and advanced elastomers on hardness, tensile strength, elongation, heat resistance, chemical resistance and other properties, is available from the company. The chart, "Properties of selected elastomers," rates each elastomer elastomer (ĭlăs`təmər), substance having to some extent the elastic properties of natural rubber. The term is sometimes used technically to distinguish synthetic rubbers and rubberlike plastics from natural rubber.  on a four-step scale from excellent to poor.
