Elantec Introduces New CCD Driver IC; The quad EL7457C reduces size of clock drivers in CCD cameras.

MILPITAS, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 28, 1999--

Elantec Semiconductor, Inc. (NASDAQ: ELNT), a leader in high-performance analog ICs, today introduced the new EL7457C, a quad driver for CCD (charge coupled device) applications. The EL7457C can drive both storage and vertical clocks and includes built in level-shifting functionality.

The EL7457C is designed to drive high capacitance loads with very fast switching times. The 4-ohm on-resistance of each output FET (field-effect transistor) enables the EL7457C to switch a +/-5V signal in 14nS when driving a 1000pF load. Propagation delays are matched to within 1nS, with typical values in the 20nS range. With level-shifting capability, the EL7457C can operate on either a single supply from 10V to 16.5V, or on differential supplies from +/-5V to +/-8V, while being controlled from either a single 3V or 5V logic signal. A delay pin is also provided for the user to offset the propagation delays if required, and the enable pin may be used to shut the device off.

The EL7457C is available in a 16-pin QSOP package. For applications that require high power dissipation, a 16-pin SOIC package is available. The EL7457C starts at $1.99 in 1k quantities for the 16-pin QSOP and $2.10 for 1k in the 16-pin SOIC.
