Elantec Introduces New CCD Driver IC; The quad EL7457C reduces size of clock drivers in CCD cameras.MILPITAS, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 28, 1999-- Elantec Semiconductor, Inc. (NASDAQ NASDAQ in full National Association of Securities Dealers Automated Quotations U.S. market for over-the-counter securities. Established in 1971 by the National Association of Securities Dealers (NASD), NASDAQ is an automated quotation system that reports on : ELNT), a leader in high-performance analog ICs, today introduced the new EL7457C, a quad driver for CCD CCD in full charge-coupled device Semiconductor device in which the individual semiconductor components are connected so that the electrical charge at the output of one device provides the input to the next device. (charge coupled device) applications. The EL7457C can drive both storage and vertical clocks and includes built in level-shifting functionality. The EL7457C is designed to drive high capacitance loads with very fast switching times. The 4-ohm on-resistance of each output FET FET: see transistor. (Field Effect Transistor) One of two major categories of transistor; the other is bipolar. FETs use a gate element that, when charged, creates an electromagnetic field that changes the conductivity of a silicon (field-effect transistor field-effect transistor: see transistor. ) enables the EL7457C to switch a +/-5V signal in 14nS when driving a 1000pF load. Propagation delays are matched to within 1nS, with typical values in the 20nS range. With level-shifting capability, the EL7457C can operate on either a single supply from 10V to 16.5V, or on differential supplies from +/-5V to +/-8V, while being controlled from either a single 3V or 5V logic signal. A delay pin is also provided for the user to offset the propagation delays if required, and the enable pin may be used to shut the device off. Jennings turned pro in May of 1999, fighting club-level opposition until roughly 2003, when he defeated Jimmy Gould for the minor WBU , Product Line Manager for Video, Amplifier & Communication products at Elantec says, "The EL7457C is targeted mainly at CCDs used in the fast-growing digital camera market, where the availability of the tiny 16-pin QSOP QSOP Quarter Size Outline Package QSOP Quarter Small Outline Package QSOP Quad Small Outline Package QSOP Quadripartite Standing Operating Procedures QSOP Quarterly Standing Order Plan QSOP Quality Standard Operating Procedure QSOP Quarter Sized Outline Package package helps save precious board space and reduces product size." He continues, "However, the product is also applicable to other CCD applications and to ATE (automated test equipment) applications, where the higher power 16-pin SOIC (Small Outline IC) A small-dimension, plastic, rectangular, surface mount chip package that uses gull-wing pins extending outward. See gull-wing lead, SOJ and chip package. package is targeted." The EL7457C is available in a 16-pin QSOP package. For applications that require high power dissipation, a 16-pin SOIC package is available. The EL7457C starts at $1.99 in 1k quantities for the 16-pin QSOP and $2.10 for 1k in the 16-pin SOIC.
