Technology Support: Rolling Hills Research Corp. was one of five high-tech firms chosen by NASA Dryden Flight Research Center to receive research and development contracts under Phase II of NASA's Small Business Innovative Research program. Each of the companies submitted a proposal and will receive up to $600,000 over a two-year performance period toward the proposal. Other winners include Metis Design Corp. in Cambridge, Mass.; Los Gates Research in Mountain View; Tao of Systems Integration Inc. in Hampton, Va.; and Andrews Space & Technology in Seattle. The proposals were chosen based upon technical merit, commercial potential, innovation, and company capabilities. NASA's small business program was created to advance technological innovation, increase the use of small business in meeting federal research and development needs and boost private-sector commercialization of innovations coming from federally funded research.

Headquarter Relocation: Urban Housing Group, a private real estate development company, recently moved its corporate headquarters to El Segundo from San Mateo and plans to expand. The company is not currently working on any projects in Los Angeles but sees possibilities in the rental property sector. In partnership with affiliates of AIG Global Real Estate, Urban Housing Group recently purchased a 1.5-acre parcel in the Mission Bay area of San Francisco where it will build a $90 million mixed-use, 192-nnit apartment and retail project. Urban Housing, a wholly owned subsidiary of Marcus & Millichap Real Estate Investment Co., still maintains an office in San Mateo. The company specializes in development of multi-family and mixed-use residential communities.
