Eisai Obtains Additional Approval for Its Thrombolytic Agent Cleactor Inj.


Tokyo, Japan, Aug 5, 2005 - (JCNN JCNN - Japan Corporate News Network) - Eisai has received approval for an additional indication of its thrombolytic thrombolytic /throm·bo·lyt·ic/ (throm?bo-lit´ik) dissolving or splitting up a thrombus, or an agent that so acts. agent, Cleactor Inj. (monteplase), from the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare.

Cleactor Inj. is now available in the treatment of acute pulmonary embolism
air embolism  that due to air bubbles entering the veins from trauma, surgical procedures, or severe decompression sickness.
cerebral embolism  embolism of a cerebral artery.
coronary embolism  embolism of a coronary artery.
 with hemodynamic instability.

Currently, the company offers three dosage forms: Cleactor Inj. 400,000, Cleactor Inj. 800,000 and Cleactor Inj. 1,600,000. Eisai expects that the new indication will contribute to the field of critical care.
