. She served her local MTA as secretary, student achievement testing chair and president. At the state level, she was SAT handbook chair, second vice president, first vice president and president. Keel also served as East Central Division president for MTNA.

In her 42 years of teaching piano, Keel's students received high honors in SAT competitions and scholarship auditions to the Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp is a summer arts camp in Twin Lake, Michigan, United States, and is located in the Manistee National Forest. In 2006, 7,814 participants were enrolled in Blue Lake's numerous programs. Since its beginning in 1966, over 250,000 students have attended.  and Interlochen. Keel was also active as an adjudicator.

Keel was an MMTA-certified emeritus teacher. She was named CAMTA and MMTA Teacher of the Year in 1988 and was awarded the MMTA Distinguished Service Award in 1996.

Upon her death, Keel donated a Steinway piano to the Lansing Christian School and her music library, which includes books, sheet music and more, to the Community Music School.
