n the provision of medical, social, and personal care services on a recurring or continuing basis to persons with chronic physical or mental disorders.
 workers at Extendicare nursing homes in Toronto, Kapuskasing, Sudbury, Timmins, New Lisgard, Haileybury, Cobalt, Oshawa and Ottawa, represented by the eight locals of the Canadian Union of Public Employees The Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE, French: Syndicat canadien de la fonction publique) is a Canadian trade union serving the public sector - although it has in recent years organized workplaces in the non-profit and para-public sector as well.  (CUPE CUPE Canadian Union of Public Employees ), won wage increases ranging from 9 to 13 per cent over three years.

The workers in eight homes covered by the agreement include nurses, health care aides, cooks, and maintenance workers.
