Eggleston Fontaines: a Correction.

Two portions of the Eggleston Fontaine loudspeaker loudspeaker or speaker, device used to convert electrical energy into sound. It consists essentially of a thin flexible sheet called a diaphragm that is made to vibrate by an electric signal from an amplifier.  review in issue 85 were inadvertently missing. The first missing section was flattering text that applied to the in-room response curve (which did print):

"Some weeks went by, but I did not call the trucking company to come pick up these heavy babies. I had a small gnawing feeling that maybe I should do more what an audiophile An individual who is very interested and enthusiastic about the sound quality of a stereo or home theater system. Figure 2, below: With experimentation, the excess output in the 70-140 Hz bass octave was tamed to just about where you want it for a nice warm overall balance, and the ear-sensitive 2.5k-6k Hz octave-plus depression was filled in a bit. An impressive 60 Hz-16k Hz [+ or -] 5 dB, say, and again note the fine flat downward slope across the decade-plus from below 200 Hz to above 2kHz. Maybe not the most accurate speaker in the world, but awfully pleasing to listen to."
