Efforts to be made to promote & preserve heritage at Sindhology Institute.HYDERABAD, November 10, 2009 (Balochistan Times): The record available in audio visual sections and research library of the University of Sindh The University of Sindh (Urdu: جامعه سندھ) is the second-oldest university in Pakistan. It worked solely as an examining body from 1947 to 1951. would be digitalized and efforts would be made to promote and preserve the heritage at the Institute of Sindhology up to international level. It was decided in a meeting of the Advisory Board of the Institute of Sindhology University of Sindh, which presided over by the Vice Chancellor University of Sindh Mazhar-ul-Haq Siddiqui who is also the Chairman of the Advisory Board of the Institute. According to university spokesman, the meeting was attended by Dr. N.A Baloch, Dr. Ghulam Ali Allana Ghulam Ali Allana was friend and biographer of Muhammad Ali Jinnah, founder of Pakistan. He was also an English language Pakistani poet. He was also a councillor and friend Muhammad Ali Jinnah's sister Fatima Jinnah. The meeting discussed and approved the annual budget for the year 2009-2010 of the Institute and also minutes of its last meeting. The meeting also discussed the progress of the various sections of the Institute and decided to further improve their progress by providing required facilities as well as technical training they needed. The meeting also discussed the overall progress during last many years of the Institute and expressed little concern on its working. The meeting however expressed a view to provide facilities to visitors and research scholars from the research library and to increase timings up to late hours that visitors from different areas who visit this institute can get benefit from the available source material. The meeting decided to organize a series of lectures on folklore to be delivered by learned scholar Dr. N.A Baloch and also arrange monthly paintings exhibitions at the Sindhology. The meeting approved a project on the research on history of Sindh Sindh (Sind) (Sindhi: سنڌ ,Urdu: سندھ, Hindi: सिन्ध) is one of the provinces of Pakistan. Sindh had one of the world's oldest civilizations, the Indus Valley civilization. and also names of scholars to be associated for the research project. The meeting in view of research needs all over the world, accorded approval of new Editorial Board of the Sindhological Research Journal and decided that the published material would also be posted at the Sindhology website and it also be developed to cater the needs of the modern time. The meeting nominated various scholars on Publication Committee, Research Committee and nominated an executive committee. The meeting also constituted a committee to review the aims and objectives of the Institute of Sindhology. The meeting also agreed to provide scholars to send the staff of Sindhology for training to abroad in different field of specialization. Dr. N.A Baloch while sharing his views emphasized the need of enhancement in the standard of the Institute adding that only few organizations are engaged to work for the art, culture and literature of Sindh and Sindhology is one among these which worked well. He hoped that the advisory board would deliver a lot for preservation and promotion of culture and heritage of Sindh under the objectives of the Institute. He also appreciated services of former directors of the Institute and staff members and said that they delivered wonderful according to their abilities and resources available to them. The Vice Chancellor Mazhar-ul-Haq Siddiqui in his remarks, lauded the services of members of advisory board and said that being a scholar and intellectual they are working well in their fields and hoped that they would also help Sindhology that its objectives could be achieved. He thanked to participating members and said that they must fix their eyes on future in light of past for serving better way for the future generations. Hameed Haroon on the occasion, presented eight points including digitalization digitalization /dig·i·tal·iza·tion/ (dij?i-tal-i-za´shun) the administration of digitalis or one of its glycosides in a dosage schedule designed to produce and then maintain optimal therapeutic concentrations of its cardiotonic of audio video treasure, publication of Sindhological journal of international standard, technical training of staff, availability of experts in human resources and financing and fund raising for the institutes projects.
