This report of the United Nations Scientific Committee on the Effects of Atomic Radiation, delivered in 2006, describes variable rates of cancer related to atomic radiation beginning with epidemiological studies and evaluations of cancer, cardiovascular disease, and other non-cancer diseases following radiation exposure. It also reports on non-targeted and delayed effects of exposure to ionizing radiation, the effects of ionizing radiation on the immune system, and assessment of the effects of radon in homes and workplaces. It may be noted that results appear to be related, although not always, to national policies and practices. Appendices include lists of members of national delegations on the committee and the scientific staff and consultants cooperating with the committee on the report.
