Edwidge Danticat's The Dew Breaker breaker: see wave, in oceanography. won the first Story Prize for outstanding short fiction. Published by Alfred A. Knopf, March 2004, The Dew Breaker is also is a finalist for the National Book Critics Circle Award, which was to be announced March 18. [See BIBR, July-August 2004, "Haiti's Eloquent Daughter."]
