Edward L. Nathan.


GRAFTON Edward L. Nathan, 87, passed away October 25, 2007 from complications after suffering a massive heart attack a week earlier. His wife Martha L. (Palombella) Nathan passed in 2004. He is survived by two sons, Leo E. and his wife Susan with whom he resided and Drew Nathan in Georgia; one daughter, Veronica Gilbert of Connecticut; and seven grandchildren. He was born February 15, 1920 in New York City the son of the late Leo and Edith (Luttrell) Nathan. Ed was raised in New York, lived 35 years in Massapequa on Long Island. He then retired to Florida for 15 years before moving here in 2006. While attending High School Ed joined the Navy Reserves and was called to duty for World War II. He served aboard the destroyer USS Barney in the European African Theatre until being honorably discharged in 1945. Mr. Nathan then worked 25 years at Grumman Aerospace Co. in Bethpage L.I.N.Y retiring as a contract administrator. Ed also had been a theatre manager in Hicksville NY. He was an extremely talented athlete being a professional figure skater, teaching snow skiing, and an excellent archer competing on the US Olympic Archery team. While serving in the Navy he performed in many skating shows and exhibitions with The USO, particularly in Panama.

Mr. Nathan was also very active in community affairs in NY and FL.

There will be a Prayer Service Saturday November 3rd at 3 p.m in Roney Funeral Homes - North Chapel, 152 Worcester St. in North Grafton. Memorial donations may be made in lieu of flowers to Alzheimers Association, 36 Cameron Avenue, Cambridge MA 02140.
