Editorial forewarning brings nods of agreement.

Your November editorial ["Be Forewarned"] was very interesting and timely. Just the other week, The New York New York, state, United States

Times ran an article called "Manufacturing Jobs Are Exiting Mexico: Business Leaders Try to Stop the Exodus of Factories to China" In the article, it mentions some of the reasons for the move. For one, labor rates in Mexico are about $2 an hour, while in China it varies from $0.35 to $1. In all, Mexico has lost about 287,000 jobs since October 2000. The article also mentions that the Delphi R&D) Center in Juarez might not be needed anymore if they won't be doing production in Mexico in the future.

Again, it was a very good editorial in that you let people know just what is going on and forewarned them to get ready and to prepare.

Your November editorial hits the nail on the head. We are watching Mexico carefully with regard to their probable shift toward low- to mid-volume technology-oriented and quick-turn services. A recent conversation I had with Eric Miscoll of Technology Forecasters indicated the likelihood of this trend as well. We at Nextek are not worried about our future, as we feel that we have sufficient technology and market differentiation to survive an increase in Mexican suppliers. We are all going to be affected as the sources of EMS services shift to new locations around the globe. We all need to determine what it is that we do well and focus on the subset A group of commands or functions that do not include all the capabilities of the original specification. Just a quick note to comment on your November editorial: I totally agree.
