Use of measures designed to regulate the number and spacing of children within a family, largely to curb population growth and ensure each family’s access to limited resources.
. Our antennae went up when US president George W. Bush initially delayed his government's promised $34 million funding for the United Nations Population Fund The United Nations Fund for Population Activities (UNFPA) began funding population programs in 1969. We look at China itself and the role coercion has played in its family planning programs over the years. And then we spread the net wider, examining the role coercion has played in reproductive choices. Finally, we asked religious leaders what they thought of the decision to defund de·fund
