Editor's Report.

From January 1, 2000 through December 31, 2000, the Editorial Office received 251 new manuscript submissions. The following table lists the time in the editorial process for the 198 manuscripts submitted during 2000 for which the authors received a first decision by March 31, 2001.

At the November 2000 meeting, the Board of Trustees of the Southern Economic Association appointed Professor Robert Margo of Vanderbilt University to a term as Co-Editor to run from July 1, 2001 through June 30, 2003. Professor Margo replaces Professor Kathy Hayes of Southern Methodist University who served for four and one-half years as Co-Editor. On behalf of the Board of Trustees and the members of the Editorial Board, I thank Professor Hayes for her dedicated and skillful service.

This issue contains a new feature, two Association Lectures from the 2000 Annual Meeting in Washington, D.C. Professor Donald Fullerton of the University of Texas writes about teaching environmental economics and Professor Kenneth Elzinga of the University of Virginia writes about teaching principles courses. Professor James Poterba of MIT will present an Association Lecture at the November 2001 meeting in Tampa.
