Based in Houston, Cooper Industries Cooper Industries NYSE: CBE is one of the oldest large companies in the United States, having been founded in 1833 as a partnership in Mount Vernon, Ohio.

 is the world's largest manufacturer of spark plugs. Cooper, which manufactures a broad range of automotive and electrical products, tools and hardware, had total worldwide sales of $4.6 billion in 1994.

Commenting on the agreement, Edelbrock Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Vic Edelbrock said: "Like the name Edelbrock, Champion means proven performance to millions of automotive enthusiasts across America. Because of this, the decision to add them to support our Total Power Package concept was an easy one to make.

"Adding this important element to our growing list of performance products represents one of the many ways in which we will continue to grow Edelbrock in the months and years ahead," he added.

Founded in 1938, Torrance-based Edelbrock Corp. is recognized as one of the nation's premier designers, manufacturers, marketers and distributors of high-performance replacement parts for the automotive and motorcycle aftermarkets.

In addition to production facilities in Torrance, the company owns and operates a state-of-the-art aluminum foundry in San Jacinto, Calif., at which it manufactures many of its quality products.
