Ecogenomics Releases Innovative DNA Microarrays for Biological Assessment of Chemical Substances.

Tokyo, Japan, Aug 26, 2005 - (JCNN JCNN Japan Corporate News Network ) - Ecogenomics, a joint venture established by Electric Power Development and TRANS GENIC genic /gen·ic/ (jen´ik) pertaining to or caused by the genes.

gen·ic
adj.
Of, relating to, produced by, or being genes or a gene.

genic

pertaining to or caused by the genes.
, announced on August 25 that it has launched DNA DNA: see nucleic acid.
DNA
 or deoxyribonucleic acid

One of two types of nucleic acid (the other is RNA); a complex organic compound found in all living cells and many viruses. It is the chemical substance of genes.
micorarrays for evaluating the adverse effects of chemical substances. Three types are available: EG Microarray Killifish killifish, northern representative, especially the genus Fundulus, of the Cyprinodontidae or toothed minnows, a family that includes also the topminnows and many popular aquarium fishes (e.g.  750, EG Microarray Mouse 1200, and Next-generation EG Microarray 12chamber.

EG Microarray Killifish 750 is the world's first DNA microarray DNA microarray

A small solid support, usually a membrane or glass slide, on which sequences of DNA are fixed in an orderly arrangement. DNA microarrays are used for rapid surveys of the expression of many genes simultaneously, as the sequences contained on a
that has used killifish DNAs. Since the killifish is a primary predator in the food chain, it is suitable to evaluate the effects of chemical substances in the ecosystem.

EG Microarray Mouse 1200, which is loaded with 1,200 mouse genes, facilitates the process of toxicity evaluation and the analysis of chemical substances including endorine-disrupting chemicals.

Next-generation EG Microarray 12chamber can provide gene expression analysis of 12 different samples with a single chip. The three products retail for 25,000 yen ($227), 27,500 yen ($250) and 30,000 yen ($273), respectively.

Further, Ecogenomics has begun accepting orders for analysis services using the new three DNA micorarrays. Accordingly, the company has formed business alliances with Matsunami Glass and Wako Pure Chemical Industries. The analysis services are available for 450,000 yen ($4,090) for Killifish 750, 500,000 yen ($4,540) for Mouse 1200 and 300,000 yen ($2,730) for 12chamber.
