HTE Inc. (Nasdaq:HTEI), a leading provider of enterprise-wide software solutions for public sector organizations and utilities worldwide, announced today it has signed a contract with the city and county of Eau Claire, WI, to provide a complete public safety and justice solution which will serve the community's seven law enforcement agencies, six fire/emergency medical stations, courts and jail.

The package includes HTE CAD400(TM) computer aided dispatch with Enhanced 911 interface, Mobile Data Browser(R), CRIMES(R) Record Management System, FIRES(R) Management System, Emergency Medical Services, Field Incident Reporting, Jail System and Return of Service System for civil process.

"I think we'll see improvements on all fronts," said Pam McInnis, director of the Eau Claire Emergency Communications Center, which serves all emergency agencies in the city and county. "We answered nearly 200,000 calls last year, 58,000 of which required a police, fire or EMS dispatch. We have a very progressive, sophisticated operation and we need all of the power that technology can deliver. HTE is an excellent fit for us."

Eau Claire's combined communications center, which receives emergency and non-emergency calls for 26 agencies, was established in 1970 as a joint venture of the city and county. It was one of the nation's first such agencies. Eau Claire was also among the first communities in the U.S. to institute 911 service.

"We're used to being first, and now we're one of the first agencies in our area to get HTE. We always know a good thing when we see it," McInnis said.

Eau Claire Information Services Manager John LeBrun said even though the city and county combined their dispatch efforts years ago, the information systems for the various agencies have not been integrated. "This is the missing piece. Sharing information will allow us to more effectively use our data for operations and planning," he said.

LeBrun said the community's law enforcement officers are looking forward to expanded communications capabilities with HTE Mobile Data Browser and Field Incident Reporting.
