U.S. Customs is giving quick cargo clearance to companies with strong security procedures. The Customs Trade Partnership Against Terrorism The Customs-Trade Partnership Against Terrorism (C-TPAT) is a voluntary supply chain security program led by U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) and focused on improving the security of private companies' supply chains with respect to terrorism.  program (CTPAT CTPAT Customs Trade Partnership Against Terrorism ) allows approved carriers to pass quickly across the border without major inspections. To qualify, importers and transportation companies must comply with Customs' security guidelines as well as implement a program to promote security throughout the supply chain.

Companies in the partnership can expect fast cargo clearance and may become eligible for monthly billing. Customs is using the partnership as a vehicle to launch account-based payment methods, which have been planned for years. More than 500 companies, from chemical company BASF BASF Bar Association of San Francisco (since 1872; San Francisco, California)
BASF Badische Anilin und Soda Fabrik (German chemical products company)
BASF Builders Association of South Florida
 Corp. to logistics provider Elite International Transportation, have signed up for the "fast lane" border treatment since it was proposed in April of this year.

Membership in the C-TPAT C-TPAT Customs-Trade Partnership Against Terrorism (US government)  will be extended to port authorities port authorities nplautoridades fpl portuarias , terminal and warehouse operators and manufacturers in the future.
