Eastman Chemical and H.B. Fuller announced the completion of Fuller's purchase of Eastman's hot-melt adhesives business based in Charlotte, NC. Financial terms were not disclosed. Eastman Chemical also announced that the Singapore island of Pulau Sakra will be the site of its first oxo chemicals manufacturing complex in Asia Pacific. Eastman signed a letter of intent with British Petroleum, Caltex, Singapore Petroleum and Singapore Refining for the purchase of a refinery-grade propylene stream. Eastman also signed a letter of intent with Sembawang Projects Engineering Pte. Ltd. for key services associated with the complex.

Bytewise Measurement Systems of Columbus, GA announced the formation of Bytewise Europe with headquarters in Trelleborg, Sweden.

Kason has relocated to Millburn, NJ. The more spacious facility is said to provide larger and better manufacturing and test areas.

Minerals Technologies announced that Specialty Minerals, a wholly-owned subsidiary, will construct a precipitated calcium carbonate satellite plant at International Paper's Androscoggin paper mill in Jay, ME. The satellite PCC plant, which is scheduled to begin operation in the third quarter, will be equivalent to approximately three satellite units. A unit is defined as producing between 25,000 and 35,000 tons of PCC annually.
