Garfield senior Anna Dailey (17:58) posted the fastest time of the day in all classifications, beating Stanwood junior Minna Fields by 19 seconds.

"I just can't believe it, it's a lot to comprehend right now," Dailey said.

In the 3A race, No. 1 Glacier Peak Glacier Peak

A mountain, 3,215 m (10,541 ft) high, of northwest-central Washington in the Cascade Mountains east-northeast of Everett.
 was upset by second-ranked Shadle Park (three runners in the top six), 59-67. But the second-year Snohomish school boasted the top individual, Amy-Eloise Neale (18:08), who pulled away from fellow freshman Katie Knight of North Central in the final 100 meters to win by a second.

Juanita junior Tansey Lystad (18:13), the Sea-King District champion, was third.

* In 2A, second-ranked Sehome (57 points) upset No. 1 Cedarcrest (third).

* Sehome and top-ranked King's of 1A tied the state record (East Valley-Spokane, 1994-97, 3A) for consecutive titles as they each won their fourth straight.
