Eastern Division.Eastern Division officers were installed at the recent Kansas City National Conference. Our featured state for this issue is New Jersey. President Deborah Gers has prepared the following article. The New Jersey Piano Festival evaluated 607 students in March. During the March recital auditions, more than 1,500 students were adjudicated during a three weekend period. In January NJMTA NJMTA New Jersey Music Teachers Association held its biennial concerto competition. Fourteen students were chosen as finalists. The three winners, who will perform with the Westfield Symphony in April under the direction of David Wroe, are Constance Lin Kaita, student of Ingrid Jacobson Clarfield, NCTM; Emily Choi, student of Michael Thomopoulos; and Andrew Nguyen, student of Veda Zuponcic. The NJMTA conference will be held November 20-21 at Westminster Choir College -- Westminster Choir College is a residential college of music located in Princeton, New Jersey, United States. Westminster has a choral emphasis that educates men and women at the undergraduate and graduate levels for music leadership careers in churches, schools, of Rider University in Princeton. We are extremely proud to have as our guest artist John Perry, NCTM, who will conduct a master class and a lecture recital. Our commissioned composer far 2004 is Mark Chang, who will hold a Composer's Forum at the conference.
