The Vermont MTA's fall convention and competitive auditions were held October 6, 2004, at the University of Vermont n Burlington. The guest clinician was Melanie Foster Taylor, NCTM. of the Converse College Petrie l of Music in Spartanburg, South Carolina.

Competitive auditions in the afternoon consisted of 2 senior piano entrains, judged by Taytor. The winter was Xiudan Lin, a student of Pau Orgel.

Spring festival noncompetitive auditions were held March 19 at the University of Vermont. Registrants included 122 piano students and 3 vocalists from the studios of 25 teachers. The festival underwriter was Frederick Johnson Pianos

Total state membership o numbers nave remained consistently between 60 and 65 A core of active and dedicated teachers makes the above events possible along with Vermont MTA's generous advertisers and sponsors. Financial support comes from Ellis Music, Hansen & Son Pianos, Hilbert Pianos, Frederick Johnson Pianos, Inc., Roby's Piano Shop and Alfred Publishing Company, Inc.

The Burlington Branch MTA held a monster piano concert November 5 6, 2004, with nearly 200 participants. The BBMTA also organizes two student recitals each year at St. Paul's Cathedral in Burlington. On March 12,

BBMTA sponsored a half-day workshop with Scott McBride Smith, NCTM, held at Frederick Johnson Pianos in Shelburne.
