Easter in the Early Church: An Anthology of Jewish and Christian Early Texts.

Here's another keeper: Capuchin Fr. Raniero Cantalamessa's Easter in the Early Church: An Anthology of Jewish and Christian Early Texts (Liturgical Press, 254 pages, 19.95 paperback), newly translated and annotated by Jesuit Frs. James M. Quigley and Joseph T. Lienhard.

The documents highlight the diverse ways in which different groups of Christians celebrated Easter at the same time. This analysis of the evolution of certain traditions and of their common bases makes it "possible to gain some idea of the interior dynamic of the patristic Pascha."

Cantalamessa and his scholarly Jesuit annotators and translators have produced an important and interesting book.
