Certification requires 600 hours and completion of six levels of study, and can be accomplished over a two- to three-year period. Graduates earn the designation of registered movement therapist or registered movement educator. Certificates of completion are available for two thirty-six-hour courses, Core Movement and Somatic Release I and II. [] Program founder Sondra Fraleigh is a professor of dance at SUNY SUNY - State University of New York Brockport and is certified in the Feldenkrais Method[R]. She designed the curriculum to combine such Western healing movement practices as Feldenkrais, Alexander Technique[TM], Breathwork, and Craniosacral Therapy, with Eastern modalities of yoga, meditation, and Japanese butoh Butoh (舞踏 butō) techniques.
