Illinois State MTA is naming Karen Rogers as a FOUNDATION Fellow. Professor of music emerita from Southern Illinois University, Edwardsville, she has authored the Illinois Achievement in Music Teachers Manual, and student workbooks for nine levels of this widely-used syllabus/examination program.

Indiana MTA continues work on its website, assisted by Julianne Miranda, IMTA past president, now MTNA chief information officer. A new collegiate chapter is forming at Butler University, led by Karen Thickstun, ECD director-elect, and faculty member Kate Boyd.

Michigan MTA's Christopher Carlon has begun e-mail production of the newsletter, with both electronic and hard copy format planned for one year. Central Michigan University, Mount Pleasant, is the site for the 2007 Division competitions.

In June 2007, Ohio MTA will initiate a duet competition as part of the All Ohio Piano Ensemble. Contestants will present classical and creative duets, dressing in character of the music for the creative category! Kathleen Jendrusik is event chair, with judges Roxanne and David Ingle, Amy Rose Immerman and Christine Geiser Steiner.

Wisconsin MTA, proud recipient of an MTNA 2006 State Affiliate Grant, used the grant to help fund creation of a WMTA office, resulting in smoother operation from a central base. The state conference, held October 20-21 at Viterbo University, LaCrosse, included MTNA President Paul Stewart and MTNA Director of Educational Services Rachel Kramer among the presenters.
