Wisconsin MTA held its 2006 conference October 20-21, at Viterbo University Viterbo University is a Roman Catholic liberal arts university located in La Crosse, Wisconsin in the Diocese of La Crosse. History In 1890, the Franciscan Sisters of Perpetual Adoration founded the college as St. , La Crosse. Guest artist was pianist R. Kent Cook from Illinois Wesleyan University History and academics Illinois Wesleyan University (IWU) is an independent, residential, liberal arts university. Illinois Wesleyan is a private co-educational university with an enrollment of 2,137 and a student/faculty ratio of 12 to 1. , who performed the Debussy Preludes in recital and conducted a master class. Other presenters included MTNA MTNA Music Teachers National Association MTNA Middle Tennessee Nursery Association (McMinnville, Tennessee) President Paul Stewart and MTNA Director of Educational Services Rachel Kramer. Seven local associations honored a Member of the Year. Indiana MTA 2006 conference featured Nelita True as guest artist. There were also sessions by Amy Rose Immerman (teaching composition); Anna Briscoe (teaching the music of Debussy); and Julianne Miranda, CPCC CPCC Central Piedmont Community College (Charlotte, NC) CPCC Certified Professional Co-Active Coach CPCC Canadian Private Copying Collective (Canada) CPCC Canadian Peacebuilding Coordinating Committee ("Finding Balance..."). The fall conference of Michigan MTA featured clinicians Forrest and Akiko Kinney. Robert deMaine, principal cellist of the Detroit Symphony, with Pauline Martin, pianist, presented the Artist Recital. Illinois State MTA local associations honored 14 Members of the Year, at the November, 2006 conference. Illinois also reports four newly-certified teachers. At the beginning of its 2007 conference, Ohio MTA held a leadership summit.
