East Africa Gold Significant Drilling Results Confirms Kitongo's Potential.VANCOUVER, British Columbia--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 11, 1996-- EAST AFRICA Africa (ăf`rĭkə), second largest continent (1997 est. pop. 743,000,000), c.11,677,240 sq mi (30,244,050 sq km) including adjacent islands. Broad to the north (c.4,600 mi/7,400 km wide), Africa straddles the equator and stretches c. GOLD CORPORATION (VSE See DOS/VSE. VSE - Virtual Storage Extended :EAG EAG - Extended Affix Grammar ) Summary The results of five (5) holes drilled at the Kitongo prospect confirm the prospect's significant potential to host a future mining operation. -0- Two very significant results are: KTRC002 25 metres at 5.49 g/t KTRC004 24 metres at 4.37 g/t The results from all five RC holes for which results have been received are set out in the attached table. Previously the Company reported that it had identified a number of anomalies over a strike of approximately 7km and a width of 1km. In the main zone (the subject of the current RC drill program) a resource of 875,000t at 1.22g/t had been previously estimated to a depth of 15m over an area of approximately 550m length by 400m wide. The results of the current programme therefore confirms that mineralisation is present in the ironstone ironstone a natural ore which may contain significant amounts of fluorine and cause fluorosis in cattle grazing pastures in the vicinity of a factory which calcines the ore. below the laterite laterite Soil layer rich in iron oxide and sometimes aluminum, derived from a wide variety of rocks by leaching. It forms in tropical and subtropical regions where the climate is humid. . Kitongo's position as a high priority target has been further enhanced and its potential to host a significant discovery confirmed. DETAILS OF THE PROGRAM To date, eleven (11) holes of RC drilling have been completed at Kitongo on line 10400E and 4050N (the results of five (5) having been recorded). The holes are 100m spaced. The sections confirm that mineralisation is hosted in laterite and a relatively flat lying ironstone body. The ironstone is in excess of 30m in thickness, and underlain by locally altered and brecciated brec·ci·ate tr.v. brec·ci·at·ed, brec·ci·at·ing, brec·ci·ates To form (rock) into breccia. brec mafic volcanics. In the north, KTRC005 and KTRC006 intersected altered pyritic intermediate volcanics near the ironstone contacts. KTRC007 intersected a 35m unit of strongly disseminated to massive sulphide (mostly pyrrohotite) from 42m-77m, which may represent the down dip extension of the mineralised ironstone. Assay results for KTRC001 to KRTC KRTC Kaohsiung Rapid Transit Corporation (Taiwan) KRTC Kentucky Rail-Trail Community 005 on Section 10400E returned grades in excess of 1g/t Au for all holes. Best results were received from KTRC002 (25m at 5.49g/t) and KTRC004 (24m at 4.37g/t). These represent intersections of the mineralised ironstone on the limbs of the anticlinal anticlinal /an·ti·clin·al/ (-kli´n'l) sloping or inclined in opposite directions. an·ti·cli·nal adj. KTRC005, 100m north of KTRC004, intersected a sulphidic zone (55m-63m = 8m at 1.51g/t) which may represent the down dip extension of the mineralisation. Results are awaited for the intensely altered and sulphidic zones in KTRC006 and KTRC007. RC drilling is continuing on section 10500E, which should intersect a slightly deeper profile of the mineralised horizon. Current strategy is designed to outline the extent of the system, now known to be quite considerable, before concentrating on identifying the exact geometry of the mineralisation. -0-
