Earnings triple at Wyle Laboratories Wyle Laboratories, Inc. is a privately held provider of specialized engineering, scientific and technical services to the Department of Defense, NASA, and a variety of commercial customers primarily in the aerospace industry.  

Wyle Laboratories of El Segundo El Segundo (ĕl sēgŭn`dō), industrial city (1990 pop. 15,223), Los Angeles co., S Calif., on Santa Monica Bay; inc. 1917. Its products include navigation and computer systems, aircraft parts, office machines, telephone apparatus, and , an aerospace contractor founded 40 years ago that diversified diversified (di·verˑ·s  into commercial electronics, reported earnings nearly tripled during the first quarter.

For the quarter ended April 30, the company earned $2.98 million, or 30 cents a share, on revenues of $108.7 million vs. $1.06 million, or 10 cents a share, on revenues of $102.6 million a year earlier.

The company attributed the growth in profitability to its electronics marketing group whose customized semiconductors business was very strong. A new sector, kitting, or grouping electronic components in order of assembly, saw a record level of orders, according to according to

Wyle stock closed near $14 last week, approaching its 52-week high of $14.625 and far above its low of $7.75.
