This issue of EAR, NOSE & THROAT JOURNAL was prepared by Jack before his death, and it is dedicated to him. The issue has been delayed slightly in order for us to include memorial reflections. Many of us on the editorial board have worked with him closely throughout that period of time and are committed to preserving and perpetuating his vision for the journal. During this sudden and difficult transition and in the years to come, we will strive to continue to provide a venue attractive to the finest authors in otolaryngology, and to publish articles of clinical value and current interest to our readers. Although many of our sister journals have decided to eliminate (or nearly eliminate) offerings such as clinical case reports, ENT JOURNAL will continue to publish case reports, along with more extensive and erudite er·u·dite adj. The circulation of the EAR, NOSE & THROAT JOURNAL remains larger than that of any other American American, river, 30 mi (48 km) long, rising in N central Calif. in the Sierra Nevada and flowing SW into the Sacramento River at Sacramento. The discovery of gold at Sutter's Mill (see Sutter, John Augustus) along the river in 1848 led to the California gold rush of journal in our field. We recognize our access to the otolaryngologic community as a great responsibility. We look forward to bringing to out readers, in the most accessible and expert terms, the latest information of importance to the field, and to remaining uniquely responsive to the needs and desires of our many readers.
