EZCONY INTERAMERICA ANNOUNCES RESTRUCTURING

MIAMI, Sept., 28 /PRNewswire/ -- Ezcony Interamerica Inc. (NASDAQ: EZCOF) today announced that it has restructured its operations to reduce costs and eliminate unprofitable products from its Eltec line of goods.
As part of its restructuring, the company has closed its Miami warehouse but not its Miami office, relocated its office in Panama, and is eliminating approximately 35 employees. The company will continue to use its current warehousing facilities in Texas to service the Mexican market. The company has also substantially reduced the number of products in its Eltec private label line from the 67 products available at the beginning of 1993.
The company said that the restructuring will give rise to a one-time charge to earnings in the third quarter of between $650,000 and $850,000. The restructuring will have no effect on third quarter revenues which will be comparable to the second quarter's revenues and greater than those in the 1992 third quarter.
