EXXON TO BUILD $200 MILLION HYDROCRACKER IN ROTTERDAM
IRVING, Texas, Jan. 23 /PRNewswire/ -- Exxon Corporation (NYSE: XON)

announced today that its affiliate, Esso Nederland B.V., plans to build a $200 million Hydrocracking unit at its Rotterdam refinery. The new unit will convert about 2 million tons per year of high sulphur, heavy oil to essentially sulphur-free jet fuel, automotive diesel oil and a high quality petrochemical feedstock.
Startup of the Hydrocracker is planned for mid-1994, with construction expected to begin in early 1993. Hydrocracking is a proven conversion technology which uses high pressure hydrogen in a fixed bed reactor system.
The project is another step in the company's ongoing process of upgrading products at the Rotterdam refinery.
The addition of the Hydrocracking unit maintains the Rotterdam refinery's position as one of the most technologically and environmentally advanced in Europe.
